MSR Associate Raya Saksouk Presents on Disability Discrimination at NELA-NY Spring Conference

On May 6, 2022, together with the National Employment Lawyers Association, New York chapter, MSR associate Raya Saksouk presented a webinar on disability discrimination in the age of COVID-19. Ms. Saksouk’s presentation focused on legal advocacy for reasonable accommodations in the workplace, including accommodations related to Long Covid, mental health disabilities, and vulnerability to serious illness from COVID-19 infection.

Drawing on the recent opinion by a federal district judge in Malzberg v. NYU, in which MSR successfully defeated a motion for summary judgment, special topics included: if and when employees are required to provide medical evidence of a disability, when employers are considered to be “on notice” of a disability, and what it looks like for both parties to participate in the interactive process in good faith.
